Does PaySlate require WooCommerce?
No. PaySlate is standalone. It works with any WordPress site. If WooCommerce is present, PaySlate can use its existing Stripe or Square configuration.
What payment methods are supported?
The free plugin connects Stripe and Square for credit and debit cards, plus Apple Pay, Google Pay and Link. PaySlate Pro adds four more gateways: PayPal, with Venmo in the United States, plus Checkout.com, Paddle and Lemon Squeezy. Wallet availability follows your gateway account and country. All payments happen on the invoice page itself, with no redirects.
Can clients make partial payments?
Yes. You can set deposit amounts, and clients can pay any custom amount. The invoice tracks all payments with a progress bar showing the remaining balance.
Where is my data stored?
All data lives in your WordPress database on your server. Invoices, clients, and payment records are stored in custom tables. Nothing leaves your site except payment processing through your chosen gateway.
Can my client pay without a PayPal account?
Yes. On the free plugin PaySlate takes card payments through Stripe or Square, so your client enters their card directly on your invoice page. There is no account to create and no login to remember, which is the step that usually stops people from paying. PayPal is available as its own gateway on Pro if your clients prefer it.
Can I invoice a client in another country?
Yes. Your client can be anywhere in the world and pay by card. You need your own gateway account, and each gateway serves merchants in a specific list of countries, so check that yours is covered. If cross-border tax is the part you would rather avoid, Pro can route payments through Paddle or Lemon Squeezy, which act as merchant of record and file and remit your EU VAT and US sales tax for you.
